About UNV Ecampus
Mission - Vision

The e-Campus is developed as an institutional response to the expectation of our volunteers and our partners and is intended to position volunteer learning strategically in the organization. The Strategic Framework 2014-2017 (SF), in fact, stresses the commitment of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme to promoting competency development and learning for UN Volunteers. It also emphasizes knowledge generation, sharing and learning to promote and enhance the quality and impact of the volunteering experience and to ensure that the necessary skills and expertise are harnessed for both the work of the UN, as well as for the individual development of UN Volunteers. The e-Campus offers a wide range of learning modalities. This central knowledge sharing hub will gradually contain self-guided e-learning modules, tutor-based e-learning programmes, online communities of practices, webinars, and other resources and materials. The e-Campus overall objective is outreach to all our Volunteers and partners, being able to provide the same quality support in learning across the globe and in different languages in a cost-effective manner. This will also allow cross-fertilization of ideas and peer-learning, effectively creating an online learning community for the promotion of volunteering for peace and development.

Why Moodle?

Moodle is a highly flexible open source learning management system easy to use, customizable, scalable, flexible and more affordable than other proprietary LMS solutions. It’s widely spread among capacity development institutions and well integrated in the larger UN community. With this choice we contribute to raise awareness on the potential role of open source software (OSS) for the achievement of making learning and training accessible.
