This course, developed in 2014, provides UNICEF staff with key facts about Ebola, promotes safe preventative practices, and offers an overview of the support in place for affected staff.

Communication for Immunization

Developed jointly by UNICEF and WHO, the Immunization eLearning Initiative provides all immunization staff with access to training in areas deemed vital to the advancement of the Global Vaccine Action Plan and its vision that everyone live a life free from vaccine preventable disease.

This learning programme on “Communication for Immunization” provides all immunization staff with a better understanding of:

  • how communication impacts immunization programs and outcomes
  • how effective communication activities are planned, executed, supervised and monitored

Through the construction of a variety of Community-Informed Communication Plans, you will acquire the skills and know-how to lead successful communication campaigns for immunization.

Gender Equality, UN Coherence and You 

This inter-agency course has been developed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM, now part of UN Women).

The four agencies developed this course together to raise awareness of gender issues and dynamics and to ensure that their staff achieves a consistent level of knowledge. This course will contribute to a common understanding of terminology, core principles and effective approaches that will help agencies work together on gender programming and on empowerment of girls and women and the realization of girls' and women's rights. 

Harmonized Approach to Cash Transfers (HACT)

Harmonized Approach to Cash Transfers (HACT) establish common principles and process for managing cash transfers among UN agencies that have adopted the approach across all countries and operational contexts. This course describes the principles and processes of HACT and how they work in UNICEF.

This e-course is a resource and guide for UNICEF staff working towards strengthening the enabling environment for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).

 
Introduction to Ethics in Evidence Generation

In this course, you will explore the importance of Ethical Evidence Generation at UNICEF, the principles and requirements of the UNICEF Procedure for Ethical Standards in Research, Evaluations and Data Collection and Analysis and how this applies to the work that is undertaken across the organization.

 

Evaluation in Humanitarian Settings

The course presents a concrete emergency scenario that guides participants through the evaluation process before, during and after an emergency. It underlines the importance of evaluation to advance UNICEF accountability and leaning goals as outlined in the Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian Action and it provides some concrete guidance.     

360 Degree Feedback at UNICEF

360° feedback is a professional exercise and a great tool to help us increase awareness to maximize our performance both individually and as an organization, which will have a positive impact on our mission. This course helps you experience both giving and receiving feedback in a 360° feedback exercise at UNICEF.

United Nations Course on Volunteerism and Gender Equality

This module on volunteerism and gender will help you familiarize yourself with the importance of gender as a crosscutting issue in volunteerism, in the context of the development agenda 2030, in particular SDG5 on gender equality. It has been developed with the collaboration of United Nations Volunteers (UNV) agency. The topics in the module address central issues regarding volunteerism and gender, such as:

  1. Identify gender gaps and gender stereotypes related to volunteerism
  2. Use tools, strategies and resources to promote full participation of women and men in volunteerism
  3. Identify opportunities for volunteerism to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment

I know gender 1-2-3: gender equality and voluntarism

This course aims to develop and/or strengthen awareness and understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment as a first step towards behavioral change and the integration of a gender perspective into everyday work for all UN staff at headquarters, regional and country levels. It provides an introduction to the concepts, international framework, and methods for working toward gender equality and women’s empowerment. It also offers users the opportunity to make links between gender and specific thematic areas such as work; education; political participation; emergencies; peace and security; sexual and reproductive health; sexual and gender diversity and human rights; and violence against women.
