As a UN Volunteer, you are expected to complete the essential courses within 1-3 months of starting your assignment. UNV candidates are strongly encouraged to complete these courses within 1-3 months of registering on UVP. Non-compliance may lead to exclusion from future learning opportunities. Click on the tile below to complete these courses.

Rosetta Stone is one of the market leader in online language learning and offers courses from A1 to B1 in 24 different languages, including all official UN languages. The platform creates an intuitive and engaging environment, building the four key skills Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening in a highly interactive approach via web browser or the app.
LINKEDIN LEARNING - LinkedIn Learning provides access to over 11,000 courses taught by experts to build your professional and personal skills - free for our volunteers! COURSERA - Coursera provides access to courses from top universities, offering 5000 online courses and 500 specializations to build a variety of skills. Via the UNV Coursera Programme, you will be able to obtain many of the certificates for free. UNITAR - UN Volunteers can access self-paced, innovative courses around via the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). These courses provide more in-depth insights and advanced knowledge to develop key competencies in conflict, peace, and security.
SELF-DEVELOPMENT COACHING - Coaching has never been more necessary than now and into the future. As UN Volunteers, you can access individual coaching sessions with certified coaches to enhance your individual resilience and performance, leverage on you strengths and abilities to identify career options and enhance your productive, develop positive working relationships with the supervisor or peers and more.  Only serving UN Volunteers with valid contracts may apply for access using their official email address. IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING: MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS - A HEALTHY WORKFORCE FOR A BETTER WORLD - Visit Mental Health Matters - A Healthy Workforce for a Better World to become more aware and take actions in  developing, protecting, maintaining and improving your own health and wellbeing. Your well-being is vital for your overall health. It allows you learn, work, and overcome challenges effectively. Discuss work-life balance initiatives with your Host Entity and make time to balance your self-care. Better than webinars, Virtual Career Labs (VCLs) are dynamic, online learning sessions, brought to you in collaboration with UNDP, to help you develop as a professional. In enhancing your volunteer experience, these sessions cover areas of self-awareness, and possible options to plan your actions in achieving your future goals.

Some of the platforms may provide free certification and others may be paid for - please check before enrolment. UNV is unable to provide any helpdesk support and does not cover costs related to any course taken by individuals. Please contact the learning platform directly for support.

INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CENTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANIZATION (ICTILO) - The International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization promotes learning, knowledge-sharing, and institutional capacity-building programmes for governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations, and development partners. It provides a number of free self-guided e-Learning courses for all. UN WOMEN TRAINING CENTRE ELEARNING CAMPUS - The UN Women Training Centre eLearning Campus is a global and innovative online platform for training for gender equality. It is open to everybody interested in using training or learning as a means to advance gender equality, women’s empowerment and women’s rights. UNICEF - AGORA - UNICEF's Global Hub for learning and development. Its supports capacity building and career development through learning opportunities open to the general public.
PORTALS @UN KAMPUS - The e-learning platform from UN System Staff College provides a range of free online courses. OpenWHO - OpenWHO is WHO’s new interactive, web-based, knowledge-transfer platform offering online courses to improve the response to health emergencies. WORLD BANK - OPEN LEARNING CAMPUS - The World Bank open learning campus provides a catalogue of virtually facilitated and self paced courses on development topics.
HUMANITARIAN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY - The Humanitarian Leadership Academy is a global learning initiative set up to facilitate partnerships and collaborative opportunities to enable people to prepare for and respond to crises in their own countries. DISASTER READY - Disaster Ready provides more than 1,000 training resources covering core topics such as Humanitarianism, Program/Operations, Protection, Staff Welfare, Management and Leadership, Staff Safety & Security, and Soft Skills. It is available as an open online learning portal for individuals to register on their own. HUMAN RIGHTS CAREERS - Human Rights Careers (HRC) supports young professionals through dissemination of information on internships, entry level jobs, free online courses, tuition free masters degrees, scholarships and fellowships and other career related articles.
 iTunes U - iTunes U also allows anyone with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to learn from a large collection of free education content in public courses from leading educational and cultural institutions around the world, including Stanford, MIT, Yale, La Trobe University, University of Tokyo, Smithsonian Libraries, National Theatre, and more. GOOGLE DIGITAL GARAGE - Google Digital Garage provides a number of free courses approved by industry experts, top entrepreneurs and some of the world’s leading employers. These facilitate maintain learning up-to-date, real-world, skills that help  reach your goal.
